The article presents the results of implementing the «Service Learning» educational program at Vladivostok State University. At the beginning of 2023, the President of the Russian Federation issued an instruction to universities, relevant executive authorities, as well as NGOs to develop and implement the «Service Learning» program into educational activities. Unlike volunteering at universities, the «Service Learning» program involves an academic workload, being part of the curricula of universities. At VVSU «Service Learning» is said to be part of the project activity, which makes it possible to involve 2nd and 3d year students into various fields of study for 1 or 2 semesters. The study reveals the key principles, as well as the stages of work on social projects. Many recent studies have demonstrated that the service-learning approach is effective both in terms of students development and human capital formation, as well as from the viewpoint of educational projects social benefits.
